The ongoing paintathon

Still painting. I can't believe how long it took to paint those main areas! The trim just seemed like it went on forever. But we are almost done. All we have left today is to put the second coat of Lighthouse Shadows on the ceiling beam, mantle, posts, and front door (and it looks fabulous with the Sweet Slumber), I need to put one last coat of paint on our linen closet bifold door, and then do some touchups everywhere with the wall paint. P needs to take off the old dining room light fixture, paint around that, and install the new one, so that should be exciting. It looks great! Very clean and fresh.

We bought our kitchen/utility room paint yesterday...it's a soft gray titled "Voyage" and will look very nice with our countertops and stainless steel appliances. It took us about two minutes to pick out the color. I think we're both getting tired of selecting paint colors, because neither one of us put up a fight. We also exchanged our broken granite sink for an 18 gauge 9" depth stainless steel brushed silk finish sink, so that's done. I sure did love the idea of a granite sink, but I like the idea of a noncracked one much better.

But the most productive part of yesterday is that P started the demo of our cabinetry himself. As of right now, all of the upper cabinetry is off, the range hood is gone, and about 1/3 of the yicky gold tile backsplash has been peeled off. So we're making progress. I don't know how much this is going to save us on the total contractor bill, probably about $200 or so, but it'll be worth it to do it so they don't stall anymore. We have found some drywall patching that needs to be done, so P's going to hopefully get that taped off today so it can dry.

Here's our to-do list for today...continued from yesterday:

-finish painting main area trim/bifolds and touch up
-install outlet plates
-move furniture back into its temporary position in the living room
-move furniture out of the dining room
-move furniture out of the kitchen (there's not much)
-empty/move freezer into garage
-demo Pergo floors
-move refrigerators into dining room for now
-move washer and dryer into garage for now
-remove baseboards in kitchen and utility room
-paint kitchen and utility room
-put blinds and drapes up in living room

It's going to be a busy day.
